We love visitors, and we don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable. As a visitor, you won’t be singled out or asked to do anything you don’t want to do. You can feel free to arrive at the last minute, take a seat and listen in. You can leave whenever you like. We want you to remain as anonymous as you want to be, but we encourage you to introduce yourself to us – we’d love to meet you.
You don’t need to dress up to come to TAPC. We want you to feel comfortable joining us for our service. Please just come as you are – church is about the people you’re with, not the clothes you’re wearing.
Of course! Young or old – all are welcome at Tawas Area Presbyterian Church. If your kids need nursery services, just let us know. Children are well cared for by trained leaders, who have received child protection qualifications. Kids are also welcome to sit in with the service.
The building and facilities are handicap accessible. Large Print Bibles and personal listening devices are available at the audio desk.
Different types of people belong to Tawas Area Presbyterian Church. There is no particular social class; all are welcome! Whoever you are and whatever you do, you’ll fit right in at our church.
We have many seasonal activities and events throughout the year. Among our ongoing interests are Adult Bible Study; Intergenerational Vacation Bible School, held every summer; Men’s Fellowship Breakfast; Faith Checks and Potluck Dinners. We have several committees that offer opportunities for Christian fellowship:- Christian Education organizes youth activities, Bible studies, Faith Checks, VBS, and other educational activities.- Mission/Outreach- Worship/Music provides a setting for meaningful worship, assists with the music ministry, decorates the church for seasonal services, and arranges serving of Communion.- Chancel Choir celebrates the glory of God through music and song.- Parkinson’s Support Group offers support, information and education to those with friends or family members suffering from Parkinson’s.- Prayer Shawl Ministry crochets and knits prayer shawls which are presented to persons in need. Shawls have been given to those who are ill, lost a loved one, or to be honored in some way (i.e., a veteran).
You might never have visited church before – that’s okay! We’d love you to join us. We understand that trying anything new can be a daunting experience. So here’s what you can expect if you visit one of our services: • We’ll welcome you at the front of the building. • There will be singing – usually three or four songs (3 to 4 minutes each) throughout the service. You’re welcome to sing along, or just listen in. • There will be a time of prayer (again, you can just listen in as we pray). • There will be announcements with church news and upcoming events. • There will be a time to meet others. • A couple of Bible passages will be read. • There will be a sermon (about 15 minutes long). We aim for each service to finish in no more than 60 minutes. • After the service there’s coffee and cookies, and you are invited. • We’d love to see you at church this weekend.
TAPC services begin Sundays at 10:00 am. Service usually lasts about an hour. Please join us after worship for coffee hour every Sunday.
Our address is 2095 E. US-23, East Tawas. We are located next to the Citgo service station. (For those of you with some history with the area, we are at the site of the old drive-in!) You can also access our church via our Aulerich Road entrance.
Pastor Kathleen Rowe welcomes you to TAPC!
